Omega Polaris Camera Lifts Enhance the Worship Experience at Celebration Church

Celebration Church is a multi-campus church based in Central Texas. To reach their growing congregation and online audience, they use state-of-the-art video production equipment and techniques to create engaging, immersive worship and inspirational messages.

One of the challenges they faced was a large camera platform in the middle of their 2,500-seat sanctuary for their 2 main cameras. This platform gave the cameras the right distance from the stage and lens height for the online viewing audience. However, approximately 600 congregation members behind this platform had a difficult time seeing the stage and had to depend on the (2) 24ft side screens for their view of what was happening on stage. The church had an idea to move the cameras to the back of the sanctuary 120ft from the stage. Omega demonstrated at that distance the depth of field needed for the LED wall to be out of focus behind the singers and speakers would be lost and result in a distracting moiré pattern of the LED wall in the camera images. Omega stressed the importance of finding a solution to keep the cameras in the same position while giving the audience behind the cameras an unobstructed view. Facing this challenge, Omega designed both single and double-elevating column camera lifts. The single column was designed for PTZ Cameras and the double column for the two main broadcast cameras. 

The motorized columns move the camera up & down smoothly from 5ft to 9ft. An operator can perform the Up/Down movement with the wireless dual foot pedals. These columns in conjunction with Fluid Pan & Tilt Remote Pan Bar Controls provided with the VariZoom CinemaPro Talon or the MRMC (Mark Roberts Motion Control) AFC 100S Robotic Heads completed the setup. Because of their movement smoothing settings, the finished production quality is better than standard tripod control. The Remote columns can also be easily moved to another position and controlled up to a 1/4 mile away (wired or wirelessly) with full camera control and monitoring. After the installation, it did vastly improved the viewing experience for the 600 members behind the platform.
