Designing the Camera System for Atlanta Airport’s International Arrivals LED Wall
Omega AV helped Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on a project to design the camera system for the stunning LED wall now featured in the international arrivals area. This innovative installation enhances the traveler experience, offering a unique visual connection for those waiting to reunite with loved ones.
The Design Process: Finding the Perfect Perspective
The project began with an on-site study to determine the ideal camera placement. Using a methodical approach, our team tested camera angles and heights, holding a camera at different positions atop an escalator at Dillard’s. This thorough process led us to identify the optimal height for capturing clear images of individuals at the back of a crowd, ensuring everyone could be seen on the screen.
Technology at Work: Panasonic EVA1 and Canon CNE18-80
For this installation, Omega utilized the Panasonic EVA1 camera paired with a Canon CNE18-80 lens. Positioned at the perfect vantage point, this equipment delivers a crisp and dynamic video feed displayed on the LED wall. The camera’s settings were meticulously calibrated to provide a seamless visual experience that blends function with artistry.
A Visual Connection at a Busy Airport
The LED wall offers an immersive experience for travelers and greeters alike. As passengers ascend the escalators from the Plane Train tunnel, their images appear on the screen, creating a captivating display that bridges the physical and digital worlds. This feature provides a modern solution for families and friends waiting on the other side of the corridor, ensuring they can spot their loved ones without breaching secure areas.
